Orthodoxy

An account of how Chesterton came to hold the Christian faith, written as a personal defense of his philosophy of life.

G.K. Chesterton published Orthodoxy in 1908. Rather than constructing a formal apologetic, Chesterton describes the process by which his search for a worldview led him to Christianity. The book engages with contemporary philosophies of the late Victorian period and uses paradox and humor as rhetorical tools. Chesterton later converted to Roman Catholicism in 1922; Orthodoxy reflects his faith during his Anglican period.
